Who was Rex Allen?

Rex Allen (1920-1999) grew up near Wilcox, Arizona and was the last of the Western movies’ singing cowboys. Rex Allen starred in nineteen western films and recorded several songs that appeared in those films. In 1983, Rex was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was also the first receiver of the Golden Boot Award. The museum was opened in 1989.

Museum

Visiting the museum is inexpensive, at just $3 per person. Kids 10 and under and veterans are admitted for free! The museum is closed on Sundays and major holidays. Mondays they are open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and have live music. Tuesday through Saturday, they are open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Cowboy Hall of Fame

The Cowboy Hall of Fame opened in 1983 and is where you can see a celebration of everyday cowboys that have made the United States of America great. To be a genuine cowboy, there are several requirements, which you can find listed when you visit. We think you will have a good chuckle when you see what it takes to be a real cowboy!
