Discovering the Culture of Southern Arizona at Amerind Museum

The Amerind Museum, located in Dragoon, AZ, celebrates Native American history and culture, as well as highlights their contemporary lives. Working in conjunction with Indigenous communities, the museum shares their stories and traditional knowledge with visitors. The museum itself contains an academic research center, museum, art gallery, historic properties, and a community gathering place, and is a scenic, fulfilling destination for visitors of all ages. 

How to Visit

The Amerind Museum and Art Gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday, between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, and the art gallery is closed between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays. Admission is $12 for adults, and $10 for seniors, college students, and children between 10-17. Children under 10 are free, and group rates are available for groups of 10 or more. The museum is located in Cochise County, AZ, one mile south of I-10, an hour east of Tucson, between Benson and Willcox, at 2100 N Amerind Road, Dragoon, AZ.

Exhibits

The museum and art gallery exhibits change regularly, but up to date information can be found on the museum’s website. In general, exhibits highlight our rich local Native American culture and heritage, and celebrate traditional Native art, crafts, jewelry, language, lifestyle, and more.

Events

The museum hosts special events throughout the year, and more information about current special events can be found on their website. Yearly events include the Texas Canyon Trail Run, Autumn Fest, Member Tea, and special events at the museum store. 

Research

The Amerind Museum functions as a research center, and scholars meet for advanced research seminars, to conduct research using the museum’s collections and archives, and to analyze the botanical, biological, and geological resources on the museum’s campus.
