EOP Bird Walk
Do you enjoy birdwatching? If so, you’ll love attending the EOP Bird Walks! Starting in October, you can visit the Sierra Vista Environmental Operations Park (EOP) for Sunday morning bird walks from 7:00 am to 9:30 am. Enjoy a two-hour walk where you can spot some of the beautiful birds that call Arizona home or migrate through here annually. Don’t forget your binoculars, hat, water, and sunscreen for this free event.
Sky Island Tour
Cyclists of all skill levels are sure to enjoy this event! The 7th Annual Sky Island Tour is scheduled to take place on October 7th from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm at The Mall at Sierra Vista. Get ready to see beautiful sights during this bicycle tour through the Sky Islands. Route options range between five and 62 miles, and proceeds from the event help the National Alliance of Mental Illness of Southeastern Arizona. Learn more about this event here.
Art in the Park
Arizona is home to artists and craftspeople from a variety of backgrounds. Check out art from local artists and craftspeople at the Art in the Park event on October 7th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Veterans Memorial Park. Hosted by the Huachuca Art Association, this free event will offer great shopping opportunities for the upcoming holiday season.
35th Annual Cars in the Park
Head back to the Veterans Memorial Park on October 14th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm for the 35th Annual Cars in the Park event, hosted by the Sierra Vista Car Club. With up to 300 entries, there will be a variety of beautiful cars to check out while also enjoying live music, delicious food, and a selection of great products.
Dusk with the Dead
The first annual Dusk with the Dead cemetery tour will take place at Fry Pioneer Cemetery on October 14th from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Get immersed in the history of the City of Sierra Vista as you watch actors tell the stories of the people buried at the cemetery.
History Hikes: San Pedro House History and Tour
Travel back in time with this tour of the San Pedro House on October 15th from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. You’ll learn about the history of the Foster family and Little Boquillas Ranch before touring the house to see historic pieces.
San Pedro River Walk
Explore Sierra Vista’s wildlife during the San Pedro River Walk on October 21st from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the San Pedro House. During this one and a half to two-mile river walk, you’ll learn about and see some of the 350 species of birds, 82 species of mammals, and the various amphibians and reptiles that call the desert home.
Sierra Vista Symphony Orchestra Fall Concert
Head to the Klein Center for the Performing Arts on October 21st from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm for the Sierra Vista Symphony Orchestra Fall Concert. The concert for this season, the 29th, is “Rhapsody”. General admission is $25, and you can find more information here.
Paranormal Activity and Ghosts in Tombstone
With Halloween quickly approaching, now is a great time to check out the spooky secrets hidden in Tombstone. Visit Cochise College Downtown Center Room G106 on October 25th from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm to learn about the scary history of Arizona’s notoriously haunted town.
Backyard Astronomy
Living in the desert gives us some stunning views of the night sky. Learn how to make the most of your stargazing experience with the Backyard Astronomy lecture at Cochise College Downtown Center Room G106 on November 8th from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The lecture will provide information about constellations and astrophotography, helping attendees discover stargazing equipment to help them get the best views.
