Environmental Operations Park
The Environmental Operations Park, also known as the Sierra Vista Wastewater Wetlands features a unique native grass restoration project. These 50 acres of wetlands support aquatic vegetation and grasses that were once native to the area. Each year, more than 2,000 acre-feet of treated water returns to the aquifer to help protect the area’s unique environment. The Park features a 1,800 square-foot wildlife-viewing platform and guided bird walks every Sunday.
Kartchner Caverns State Park
Located in Southeastern Arizona, Kartchner Caverns State Park features a stunning limestone cave with world-class features. Discovered in 1974, this “live” cave contains a wide range of unique minerals and formations, with water percolating from the surface and calcite formations continuing to grow. Guests can experience this underground landscape in an unforgettable hour and a half tour. Additionally, the Discovery Center offers museum exhibits, regional displays and educational information about the surrounding Arizona landscape.
San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area
Containing nearly 57,000 acres of public land in Cochise County, this Area was established to protect and enhance the desert riparian ecosystem. The San Pedro River is home to more than 80 species of mammals and 100 species of breeding birds, and provides habitat for 250 species of migrant and wintering birds. Visitors, have the opportunity to enjoy the wildlife viewing through birdwatching, picnicking, camping and hiking.
