Tips for Moving During the Pandemic

The pandemic has added extra layers of complication to nearly everything in life and moving to a new home is no exception. The good news is that you can safely move despite the realities of COVID-19 with some careful planning and attention to detail. The process may be a little more time-consuming than before, but once you settle into your brand new home, it will all be worth it.

Start Talking to Movers Early

One of the most critical part of moving during the pandemic is working with a moving company you trust. Of course, trusting your movers is always important, but now, you need to worry about much more than whether they can carry your sofa without scratching your walls. Have a thorough conversation about health and safety protocols to find out what the company’s policies are. If the moving company’s policies don’t meet your safety standards, keep looking until you find one that does.

Minimize Store Trips

A simple but impactful way to keep your move safe is to minimize the number of times you have to run out for moving supplies. Make list of everything you will need for cleaning, organizing, and packing, and get it all in one trip. Err on the side of caution by getting extra supplies, so you don’t run out. If possible, use curbside pickup for your order, so you don’t have to go inside the store. Minimizing outside trips prior to the move will keep your family and everyone involved in your move safer.
